Best Friends nominated BEST IN SEATTLE!

What’s this?! Best friends both nominated in the same year for the Best of 2013 in Seattle Bride Magazine?!  AMAZING!  Laurel McConnell and I met in 2000 at art school – our professor was always looking for projects that included us bringing him food. So one fateful day he decided we were going to make him some quesadillas and randomly chose us to be partners in bringing food for the class.  Laurel came over that evening and I think my Mom, sister and at least a million friends were over at the apartment and she just fit right in!  Everyone loved her and her silly stories – and we’ve been best friends ever since!

We both graduated the following year, were roommates and started our businesses side by side – we toyed with the idea of combining forces and creating LaurelAndBarbieRuleTheWorld.com but decided that MIGHT just be too much personality for any one couple.  Although every once in a while we do get to work together and honestly have TOO much fun!!  If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of our pranks, you KNOW what we are talking about.  (Hellllooooo third grade humor and too too much loud laughter!)

Very rarely do you see one of us without the other, our first art show out of school we were both showcased on the invite & post card, we are generally chosen together to join groups, Laurel & I have (along with other friends) created photography support groups, non-profits, networking groups and we even go on vacations together!

So this year when we were both nominated for Seattle Bride’s Best of 2013 some people got nervous – but not us! True, there will probably be only one winner…. but we are REALLY hoping for a tie. A shared win for team Laurbie! #NERDALERT!  Honestly though, I’m so happy we could be nominated together and am so proud of my hard working best friend!

Ooh… maybe I should explain this one… yes – even our CATS are best friends!  They totally facetime each other! HA!
