You may remember this fun event from last year, Project Red Dress – pretty much the greatest fashion event of the year! Created by Monir Zandghorski, each designer has sixteen hours to create a dress, with red fabric of course then their models walk the runway – there are two winners, one judged by the 4 panel judges (including Nick Verros, Luly Yang, & Nicole of Seattle Met Magazine) and the other winner is chosen by the crowd. (so fun that the same girl, Rebecca won over all of the judges & the crowd as well! Congrats Rebecca!) The winner receives a three thousand dollar scholarship & all proceeds from the evening go to benefit the American Heart Association.
This year was a little different each of the photographers were assigned to a different part of the day. My part of the day was rehearsal & getting ready. It was a lot of fun spending the early hours with the students, I really got to know a few of them and saw some great talents!! Oh, and the models were SO sweet!!
The evening was directed by Eduardo Khawam and coming from the LA scene he really knows how to throw an event!! Wow!! Poison Waters (portlands most notorious drag queen) was our hostess for the evening, and really – if you know who she is…. I need not say any more. Wow! What a personality!! She is HILARIOUS!!
I could probably talk for days on this fun party – and if you follow my tweets you’ve probably already heard a ton about it, but I’ll move on and just let the photos speak for themselves.
Enjoy & I hope to see you at next year’s event!!
The runway was located in the Spanish ballroom at the glamorous Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle
The getting ready was SO exciting – lots of excitement, makeup and hurrying around. The rules were that the designers could iron and trip strings, but no sewing was allowed. =)
Thanks to Gene Juarez salon everyone looked like a million bucks!
